And again:

I just happened to be a few feet away from this little hummingbird. It must have been tired or something because I got to take about 30 pictures of it before it finally flew off.

Heathers: A Bit Ago But Worth Mentioning

A few weeks ago we went to a free outdoor little acoustic show in People’s Park to see Kimya Dawson (the lady of Juno fame) and got an unexpected treat. There were these two shy, young, twin girls without an ounce of stage presence between them. They stood up to play and grabbed everyone’s attention with their loud, super tight harmonies and their (real) cute Irish accents. Folks went crazy about them, and to this day I still talk to people who were there and were inspired and moved by them. Wow. They are Heathers. Go check them out!

And here’s Titus making friends with bubble people.

We went out and did a midnight poster hunt the other night. It was successful.

He Goes to Eleven

Well, all my best intentions of returning to my regular blogging style seem to have gone by the wayside. I can’t seem to bring myself to that place of reflection and witty dialogue these day. Life is over-full and it seems all I can do to just enjoy the good moments as they come with leaving time to capture them here. That’s ok.

Things usually have a way of calming back down on their own.

Until then, I’ll keep sticking up the random picture or three of the boys as their changes are so rapid and I have not got any other form of scrapbooking in my life.

Theo is eleven months old now! Here he is at a friend’s wedding last week.

And at a friend’s house.

And two pictures take by Titus.

At home wrestling with Pat and Titus.

Here’s a parting shot of the wedding. It was in the most beautiful cathedral in Tacoma I’ve ever been in.

Titus at Three

Hard to believe, but he’s really three now! Today is his official birthday and I’m having some brief flashes of memories: The moment I knew I was really in labor, the drive to the hospital, the anticipation of meeting him (her, I thought he was going to be a her), the disbelief when I was finally holding him, the cold, leftover thai food at 11 pm that tasted so darn good after going so long without an food, getting to see Pat hold his son for the first time.

Now he’s a little boy talking in full sentences and keeping us on our toes. I’ll just put up some pictures of his last year in review.

Ok, I’m aware that was probably more than most of you wanted to see, but I got carried away on my flickr account and I have to say that was really fun to go back and look at his past year! Happy birthday, Titus.

A New Beginning

Long over-due, I know.

It’s been so long since I lasted posted any real kind of blog. Now I’m feeling that I need to re-remember my voice on here. So very much has happened these past couple of months. I’ve given up on the idea of catching up and writing about everything, better to jump in mid-stride and get going on the here and now before it slips away too.

I’m finding that my down time is becoming less and less these days to the point where I get to do stuff like this only in short bursts rather than longer, quieter, thought out sittings. I’d better start off by writing about the boys and then hope to come back later to write about other stuff.

Theo. Ten and a half months.

He’s finally mobile! The first true crawls happened two nights ago and he’s been steadily picking up the pace ever since. As a second-time-around mom I’m cringing at the new load of work that crawling brings: head bonks, countless getting-intos, toy stealing. But, of course, it’s wonderful to see him change and grow and learn.

Our nights with him seemed to have unraveled from the move and have just never quite recovered. He still has good nights, but gone are the days of him falling asleep without nursing, which inevitably leads to further dependence on nursing in the night to go back to sleep. And maybe I’m just impatient, but I expected things to be better at this age and I don’t feel like I have the energy for him to be needing me so much at night or the sympathy for him either. After going through the old nurse all night song and dance with Titus when he was a baby, I swore I would never do it again…. and yet, here I am.

I must end on that note as Theo is being terribly noisy. I’ll be back! I still own Titus his very own post, complete with third birthday photos and everything. And then there’s stuff about me and the rest of my life, too!
