A Life of Grace

Baking and Running

I know, it’s a terrible combination, but I’ve been having fun lately with both of them. I ran three miles yesterday, baked more delicious cranberry zucchini muffins and buttermilk biscuits (perfect with my lamb Guiness Irish stew) the day before, and ran two miles the day before that. The trick to losing weight is to probably cut out the baking, I know. But it’s kind of nice to have something to run home to.

Call me crazy, but speaking of running, I think I’m going to sign up for the Tacoma Half Marathon. Who wants to join me? It’s exactly 13 weeks from today. If you started running this week and added one mile a week till then, you’d be ready for 13.1 miles!

I ran the Whidbey Island Half Marathon nearly 4 years ago and it was a life transforming experience: I think the lessons I learned from training (perseverance, patience, hope, goal setting, sweating, special shoe tieing) were things I was able to carry over into the way I was able to live the rest of my life.

I think I need that shot of confidence again. I need to be reminded how to kick my laziness in the rear end. And, I also need to earn my muffins.

But it’s much more fun to run with other people! Who’s in? May tenth, seven am, come run with me!

I guess that’s a good enough excuse! I think you will really enjoy being a full time mom, it’s a lot of work but it gets easier as they get a little bit older.
